Eva Marie Saint, one of the last survivors of Hollywood’s golden age of the 1940s and 50s, has died aged 102. Her screen work spanned six decades: Saint made her screen debut opposite Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront, starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s celebrated thriller North by Northwest, and in one of her last screen appearances played Superman’s adoptive mother Martha Kent in the 2006 superhero film Superman Returns.

Donald Trump’s approval ratings reached a record low on Monday, according to new opinion polls.
A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Trump’s approval rating at a record-low 32%. That polling included the president losing support among independent voters and Latinos, who had backed him in 2024. Ian Wright and Roy Keane drenched by Wembley sprinklers during live broadcast
Ian Wright and Roy Keane got a surprise during their live broadcast of England’s Nations League match when they were caught off guard by the sprinklers at Wembley. The pundits were midway through their ITV broadcast on Tuesday (6 October), when the pitch sprinklers unexpectedly activated as the England team prepared to take on Czech Republic. Wright was in the middle of his speech when the unexpected shower hit the studio area, leading to both pundits running for cover. Presenter Mark Pougatch joked about Wright being prepared for the sprinklers as he sported a new hat for the broadcast.
